Kelly Elizabeth Mccann MD, PhD

Kelly Elizabeth McCann, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor at bUC San Diego. Dr McCann earned her undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Rice University in Houston, Texas, with a focus in cellular and molecular engineering. She received her medical degree and her PhD in cancer biology from Stanford University as part of the Medical Scientist Training Program. Her thesis work was on DNA double-strand break repair. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Oregon Health and Science University and a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Her fellowship research was focused on the mechanisms of PARP inhibitors. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology. Her clinical interests are breast cancer, gynecologic malignancies, and palliative care. Dr McCann is also a scientific researcher and a member of Dr Dennis Slamon's Translational Oncology Research Laboratory, where her research is focused on the genetic and molecular biology of cancer with the goal of developing new targeted anti-cancer therapies.
