Kelly Lynn Wester PhD

Dr. Kelly Wester is impassioned to better understand non-suicidal self-injury through intrapersonal, contextual, and systematic lenses, with the ultimate goal of developing evidence-based practices in working with adolescents and young adults who self-injure, and developing preventative strategies to utilize before self-injury is selected. In addition to her clinical research agenda, she is also driven by enhancing others’ passion for research and influencing the research training in the field of counseling.

Wester currently is the Associate Editor of Quantitative Research for the Journal of Counseling & Development and serves on a variety of American Counseling Association committees related to research. She currently teaches counseling theories, counseling the sexually abused client, and doctoral research courses, as well as supervises clinical experiences. She has recently received two national awards for her research on developing research competencies for the field of counseling.
