Kelly L. Sullivan MSPH, PhD

Dr. Sullivan is a nationally recognized expert in evidence based medicine and sleep research. As a neuroepidemiologist, she has designed, executed, and analyzed dozens of medical studies and clinical trials after she received her MPH and Ph.D. from the University of South Florida. She has specialized training in evidence-based medicine, research methodology, and neuro-epidemiology. She has led a wide variety of studies as a principal investigator or Co-principal investigator with focuses on chronic diseases, mental health, and maternal-child health using state and national databases including BRFSS, as well as interventional studies of treatments for neurologic conditions. Her research related to Parkinson’s personality and gender differences in sleep drew public attention, and she received interviews from a variety of national and local media.

Dr. Sullivan is also engaged in community service by helping local educators to conduct research to improve children’s academic performance. Over the past years, she has served as a member, reviewer, or committee member for multiple state and national associations including American Academy of Neurology, National Quality Forum, National Institutes of Health, and European Society of Translational Medicine as well as multiple peer-reviewed journals. In addition to research, Dr. Sullivan is experienced in teaching graduate level courses in epidemiology including Observational Epidemiology, Field Methods in Epidemiology, Mental Health Epidemiology, and Professionalism & Ethics in Public Health Practice, and has mentored master and doctoral students as dissertation chair and committee member.
