Keith Klugman, MB BCh, PhD, FRCPath (Lond) is currently Professor of Global Health at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He is also Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases of the School of Medicine at that University and a Visiting Researcher in the Respiratory Diseases Branch of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). He is also the Director of the Respiratory and Meningeal Pathogens Research Unit at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.Professor Klugman’s research interests are in determinants of antimicrobial resistance, the clinical relevance of resistance and the development of vaccines for bacterial pathogens – particularly the pneumococcus. He has published more than 300 papers in the scientific literature to date.
