Professor Kayvan Shokrollahi is a consultant Burns and Plastic Surgeon recognized internationally as the author of numerous leading textbooks including the Oxford Specialist Handbook: Burns, Flaps: Practical Reconstructive Surgery (Shokrollahi, Whitaker & Nahai) and is Editor-in-Chief of the PubMed-listed journal Scars, Burns & Healing (SAGE). He is also Associate Editor of the journal Annals of Plastic Surgery. He is currently writing the textbook Laser Management of Scars (Springer-Nature). He has wide research interest and has undertaken various higher degrees including in Molecular Pathology, Engineering, and Law.
Prof Shokrollahi is the lead for the Mersey Regional Burns Centre in the UK, covering a catchment of 6 million people across both England and Wales for the severest of burn injuries, and undertakes a broad range of complex reconstructive plastic surgery procedures.
He is currently the clinical lead of the largest of the four networks of Burns services in the UK (Northern Burn Operational Delivery Network, NHS England) covering a population of approximately 15 million people. He has been a member of a number of key committees including those involved in publishing the latest generation of UK Burn Care Standards, as well as the national Task-Finish group for the Strategy for treatment of Mass Casualties.
Professor Shokrollahi is former Chairman and current Medical Director of the charity The Katie Piper Foundation and is the Clinical Director of The Katie Piper Foundation Burns and Scar Rehabilitation Service – having been instrumental in establishing the only national residential burns-scar rehabilitation center in the UK.
