Dr. Katy Hester is a Respiratory consultant at The Freeman Hospital with a specialist interest in bronchiectasis. She holds weekly bronchiectasis, COPD, and general respiratory clinics.
She graduated from Newcastle University in 2001 and completed training in both the North East and South West of England. She joined the Freeman Hospital as a consultant in 2020.
She has a specialist interest in bronchiectasis and holds a weekly joint multidisciplinary bronchiectasis clinic at the Freeman Hospital. She also holds weekly general respiratory and COPD clinics. She has conducted research (MClinRes and Ph.D.) into the educational needs of patients with bronchiectasis and developed an educational resource for patients and carers. She has worked with the British Lung Foundation in developing their patient resources on bronchiectasis and has a particular interest in qualitative and mixed methods research.
She is a lead for less than full-time training on the Northern Respiratory Specialty Training Committee and a tutor for Flexible Training.
