Dr. Katja Schenke-Layland studied biology, sociology and psychology at the University of Jena. She graduated in 2004 with a doctorate in biology, which focused on heart valve tissue engineering and non-invasive tissue analysis. Schenke-Layland was awarded the Family Klee award from the German Society for Biomedical Engineering.
