Dr. Katie N. Hunt, MD, is an Associate Professor of Radiology and a board-certified diagnostic radiologist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She specializes in breast imaging and women's imaging, with expertise in screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, molecular breast imaging, and image-guided breast interventions. She is dedicated to advancing early breast cancer detection through innovative imaging technologies and evidence-based clinical practice.
Dr. Hunt earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She completed a transitional internship, diagnostic radiology residency, and fellowship in breast imaging at Mayo Clinic, where she subsequently joined the faculty. She is certified by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiology.
An accomplished clinician, educator, and investigator, Dr. Hunt has held numerous leadership roles within Mayo Clinic's Department of Radiology, including Chief of the Breast Imaging Practice Section, Chair of the Resident Education Committee, and Chair of the Resident Selection Committee. She has also served as a course director for Mayo Clinic's Women's Imaging Review Course and contributes to national radiology education through the American Board of Radiology and the Society of Breast Imaging.
Dr. Hunt's research focuses on breast cancer screening, molecular breast imaging, dense breast imaging, breast MRI, and radiology education. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has received multiple honors, including the Journal of Breast Imaging Outstanding Reviewer Award, Mayo Clinic Team Science Awards, the Carman Award for Excellence in Education, and several Radiological Society of North America Certificate of Merit Awards. Through her leadership in clinical care, research, and education, Dr. Hunt continues to advance the field of breast imaging and improve outcomes for women with breast disease.
