Katie most recently coordinated and served as an instructor for MCB 140L, the undergraduate genetics laboratory, after graduating in Fall 2017. She's now taking a few months to travel and spend as many nights camping as she can while she plans for the next chapter in her career.
She will attempt the John Muir Trail in mid July and will spend almost 3 months in a tent across California, Washington, Alaska, Canada, Montana, and Wyoming over the course of her travels. This fall, Katie will be looking for jobs in the realms of science education, science policy, science communication, and beyond. She is excited about the many possibilities to use the skills she developed in graduate school outside of the lab.
