Dr. Kathryn Lynne O’Keefe, MD, is a cardiothoracic surgeon at the TriHealth Heart & Vascular Institute in Montgomery, Ohio. She serves as the Surgical Director of the Mechanical Circulatory Support and LVAD Program, where she has helped advance the heart failure program by introducing left-ventricular assist device (LVAD) therapy for patients with advanced heart failure.
Dr. O’Keefe specializes in cardiothoracic surgery, including coronary artery bypass surgery, valve replacement surgery, atrial fibrillation surgery, aortic aneurysm repair, and lung surgery. She also has expertise in advanced mechanical circulatory support therapies such as ECMO, Impella placement, and LVAD implantation.
She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Toledo College of Medicine and completed her residency at the Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners. She later pursued fellowship training at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed additional advanced training in LVAD implantation at the Cleveland Clinic.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. O’Keefe is involved in training surgeons across the United States in atrial fibrillation surgery and contributes to advancing surgical care for complex cardiovascular conditions.
