Dr. Kathryn J. Huber-Keener graduated with both M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Penn State University College of Medicine in order to become a bridge between bench scientists and physicians. She completed her Ph.D. in Pharmacology focusing on cancer genetics with my dissertation entitled, "Alterations in Gene Expression as a Response of Tumor Cells to Stress." She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2018 and went on to do a fellowship in Cancer Genetics and Breast Health. That fellowship focused on breast cancer surgery, cancer genetics, and the gynecologic care of breast cancer patients.
She has a multi-discipline background, with research in the fields of physics, genetics, cancer, and pharmacology. With her extensive training in the basic sciences, her goal is to combine her benchtop research experience with her medical training through translational research to develop better therapeutics and diagnostics for patients in the clinic. She also has a passion for educating both patients and providers on cancer risk, prevention, and early detection.
