Kathryn Lancaster, PhD, MPH is an assistant professor in the Division of Epidemiology at The Ohio State University. As an infectious disease epidemiologist, she works to address the burden of substance use and HIV/STIs among marginalized populations in the United States and globally. Her research focuses on the design, implementation, and evaluation of substance use reduction interventions among people living with or at risk for HIV.
Previously, she was the principal investigator for a mixed-methods study, using focus group discussions, cognitive interviewing, and surveys, to inform discrete choice models systematically evaluating preferences for pre-exposure prophylaxis among HIV-negative female sex workers in Malawi. Dr. Lancaster is currently the Principal Investigator of the NIDA-funded K01 award that will use a mixed methods approach to examine gender and power dynamics that influence HIV/HCV and measure preferences for obtaining services that reduce HIV/HCV risk among young women.
