Dr. Kathleen Bechtold (formerly Kortte) is an Associate Professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She specializes in the rehabilitation needs of patients post-injury or illness.

Dr. Bechtold earned her Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. She completed a fellowship in neuropsychology and rehabilitation psychology at Johns Hopkins. She is one of only of less than 30 psychologists in the country who are double board-certified in clinical neuropsychology and rehabilitation psychology.

Patients can be referred to Dr. Bechtold for cognitive dysfunction, impairment, or decline; emotional management and adjustment to medical issues; fatigue management from brain injury or illness; headache pain related to brain injury or illness; cognitive rehabilitation and evaluation; or neuropsychological evaluation and diagnosis related to brain injury or illness.

Dr. Bechtold has been recognized by the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with an Excellence in Psychology Clinical Teaching Award in 2011 and 2013. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association and the International Neuropsychological Society.
