Katherine J. Aitchison BA, MA, BM BCh, PhD, FRCPsych

Dr. Aitchison is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Medical Genetics at the University of Alberta, and the Lead Psychiatrist for the Alberta Health Services Edmonton Early Psychosis Intervention Clinic. The focus of Dr. Aitchison’s research is precision health for mental health. In terms of illness prevention, together with Dr. Scot Purdon and Dr. Phil Tibbo, her trainees have been seeking to shed further light on genetic and environmental factors that may trigger the onset of a psychotic illness. In both Dr. Aitchison’s clinical practice and the research conducted by the team, the aim is to empower those with lived experience.
