Dr. Katharina Rump studied molecular biology at Gelsenkirchen University of Applied Sciences from 2006 to 2011. In 2015, she received her doctorate with a thesis entitled "Influence of genetic variants in the Aquaporin 5 Promoter Gene on Key Mechanisms of Sepsis" and earned a doctorate in natural sciences from the University of Duisburg-Essen. The 29-year-old has been working at the Knappschaftskrankenhaus for three years as a research assistant in the Clinic for Anesthesiology, Intensive Care Medicine and Pain Therapy (Director: Prof. Dr. Michael Adamzik) and heads the research laboratory, which is located on the campus of the Ruhr University Bochum. This year she has already received the Hanse doctoral award for experimental research in intensive and emergency medicine.
