Prof. Dr. Katharina Eckert has held the professorship for "Health Management & Public Health" at the IST University since March 2019 and heads the master's program "Prevention, Sports Therapy, and Health Management". After studying sports science with a focus on prevention and rehabilitation, she did her doctorate at the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg. In 2016 he habilitated at the University of Leipzig. Your research-related priorities are interdisciplinary and have a high application orientation. The focus of interest here is addressing the effects of physical activity as a supplementary form of therapy in health promotion and health care over the lifespan.
Katharina Eckert gained practical professional experience in the field of health and rehabilitation sports, for example. through her many years of work as a sports therapist in the outpatient and semi-inpatient setting, as an employee of the AOK Neckar-Odenwald, and at the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis health department. Katharina Eckert is also the spokesperson for the science section of the German Association for Health Sports and Sports Therapy (DVGS eV), an active member of the German Network for Health Services Research (DNfV), the German Society for Rehabilitation Sciences (DGRW) and the German Association for Sports Science (dvs). She is a reviewer for several specialist journals and is also an appointed external examiner at Brooks University in Oxford, England. Prof. Eckert is an author.
