Kate Secombe is a PhD candidate in the Cancer Treatment Toxicities Group within the University of Adelaide. She has an Honours degree in health science, a degree in biomedical science, and has worked as a researcher, determining how a variety of cancer treatments affect gastrointestinal health. Kate’s current research surrounds the role of the gut microbiome in determining chemotherapy-induced gastrointestinal injury.

Additionally, she is involved in running a large, multisite clinical study that aims to determine the usefulness of fecal microbiome transplants in a subset of patients with cancer. She is acutely interested in personalised cancer care, and believes that each person should be allowed the best care for them. Kate is passionate about science and health literacy in the community and the formation of evidence-based health and science policy.
