Karthikeyan Ananthasubramaniam, MBBS (Karthik Ananth) is the Director of Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac PET and Program Director for the Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital. He is also a Clinical Professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine. During his tenure at Henry Ford Hospital, Dr. Ananth was instrumental in building a collaborative and unique advanced imaging program with radiology, which led to the establishment of the Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship Program. He also led the launch of numerous clinical programs including Cardiac PET, Adult Congenital Heart, and most recently a multispecialty Amyloidosis Clinic.
He was Director of Echocardiography (2008-2019) and was a proponent of quality improvement in cardiac CT imaging as a member of the Michigan Cardiovascular CT Consortium. An active member of the Chapter since the fellowship, Dr. Ananth took first place in the 1998 Michigan Cardiology Fellows Society Clinical Vignette Competition. He has been a planner or speaker at the Chapter’s annual conference for more than a decade and was Program Chair in 2015. In 2019 he was elected to a three-year term as Imaging Representative on the Chapter Board. As such, he is actively engaged in a new Chapter initiative to improve quality in echocardiography.
Dr. Ananth has served in numerous leadership roles at the state and national levels. He was President of the Michigan Society of Echocardiography (MSE) (2012-2013) and continues to serve on its Steering Committee. He was a member of the ACC Scientific Sessions Planning Committee (2011-2016) and was the Imaging Coordinator for ACC13-ACC15. He is currently Education Committee Chair for the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC), Program Director for the ASNC Board Exam Prep Course, committee member for the ASNC Leadership Development Program, and on the Board of Directors of ASNC. Most recently he was elected Secretary of the Cardiovascular Council for the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.
