Karl W. Broman, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy at the University of California. Karl is an applied statistician focusing on problems in genetics and genomics, particularly the analysis of meiotic recombination and the genetic dissection of complex traits in experimental organisms. He is the chief developer of R/qtl, an R package for mapping quantitative trait loci (QTL) in experimental crosses, and is an enthusiastic developer of interactive data visualization tools for high-dimensional genetic data.
