Professor Karim Khan, MD, Ph.D., MBA, FACP. An Australian-trained academic sport and exercise physician, Karim served elite-level Australian sports teams from 1990-1996. Since 2000, he has been in academic sports medicine (University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada); he has been a Professor since 2008. He is a co-author of Brukner & Khan’s Clinical Sports Medicine, now in its 5th edition. Among Karim’s over 350 publications are well-recognized contributions in tendon pathogenesis and exercise interventions in older people. He has been Editor in Chief of the British Journal of Sports Medicine since 2008 and is one of the hosts of the popular BJSM podcast series. Since 2017 he has been the Scientific Director of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) – Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis (IMHA).
