Karen R. Cooper DO

Karen Cooper, DO is a primary care physician who specializes in obesity medicine and its associated diseases. She is Director of Weight Management in the Women’s Health Institute at the Cleveland Clinic, in Cleveland, Ohio, and holds an academic appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine in the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, of Case Western Reserve University.

Dr. Cooper specializes in the evaluation, diagnostic testing and treatment of excessive and chronic weight gain in women. She pioneered the field in 2006, serving as the medical support for bariatric surgery patients at the Bariatric and Metabolic Institute of the Cleveland Clinic for seven years. Dr. Cooper then transitioned to the Women’s Health Institute, focusing on weight gain in pregnancy, polycystic ovarian syndrome, female infertility, menopause and metabolic disease states (hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, coronary artery disease, obstructive sleep apnea, and more).
