Dr. Karen McAssey is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University and a Pediatric Endocrinologist at McMaster Children’s Hospital. The desire to improve the health of children and youth with Type 1 Diabetes has always been at the forefront of Dr. McAssey's clinical and research work. Dr. McAssey completed medical school at Queen's University in Kingston followed by studies in Pediatrics at McMaster University and training in Pediatric Endocrinology at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, Ontario.

Dr. McAssey is the Medical Director for the Pediatric Diabetes Program at McMaster Children’s Hospital. In her current role as the Principle Investigator for the CGM TIME trial (Hamilton Site), she ensures that patients and families will benefit from the opportunity to participate in leading clinical research aimed at using technology to better manage Type 1 Diabetes. Dr. McAssey also leads the Pediatric Calcium and Bone Disorders Clinic, providing clinical care for children with osteoporosis and disorders of calcium metabolism, in addition to general endocrine conditions.
