Karen Desouza LLM, FRCP, PhD

Karen DeSouza is a Consultant Medical Oncologist specialising in breast oncology. She completed her specialist training in medical oncology at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. During the course of her training, she completed a research fellowship within a collaborative project researching biomarkers to predict resistance to HER2-directed therapies in breast cancer and was involved in developing academic-led translational clinical studies. She secured a fellowship as part of the National Cancer Imaging Translational Accelerator (NCITA) to work on a project assessing imaging biomarker development to non-invasively delineate HER2 expression in breast cancer. She is passionate about developing translational research projects adopting a multimodality approach.
