Kamiar Mireskandari joined as a staff at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto in 2009. He studied medicine in England and did his Ophthalmology residency at the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, UK. Dr Mireskandari has over 15 years of experience in Ophthalmology and during his training he has won numerous prizes including the Muthasamy Gold medal for the most distinguished candidate in 1999 for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh examinations in Ophthalmology.

Dr. Mireskandari’s research interests are anterior segment surgery and wound healing. He received a PhD from the Ocular Repair & Regeneration Biology Unit at University College London based on his thesis: “Models to investigate the role of anti-TGFbeta antibodies in lens and corneal wound healing”. Dr Mireskandari is fellowship trained in Cornea, Refractive and Ocular Surface diseases (Moorfields) as well as Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (SickKids). His clinical and surgical practice includes corneal transplantation, external diseases, cataract, glaucoma, retinopathy of prematurity, strabismus and general paediatric ophthalmology.
