Dr. Kalpana Joshi is Professor and Head of Biotechnology Engineering at Pune University. She is PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology from the National Chemical Laboratory, Pune with ten years of career success in driving R&D initiatives and managing pre-clinical research with key pharmaceutical companies in India.
She has demonstrated professional excellence in strategic planning and implementation of product development in the field of herbal and NCE drugs encompassing Pre-Clinical studies including setting up various enzyme, cell-based, reported assays and screening, IND filing, and representation at ICMR for IND. She was Lupin Endowment Fellow at ICT (former UDCT) for the year 2010 and appeared in Chemical News as Woman Scientist of the Year in 2011.
She lead several prestigious projects funded by DST, ICMR, the Office of PSA, Govt. of India, and private companies like Intel, Glenmark, etc. She has >40 publications to her credit and co-inventor ship in patents. Drug Discovery, Pharmacogenomics, and Ayurvedic Biology are her research interests. She is a member of the Panel for Genetically Modified Organisms and Foods", The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Govt of India for providing scientific opinions to the Food Authority.
