Dr. Kai J. Yang is an assistant professor in the division of plastic and reconstructive surgery. He joined the team in September 2021. Dr. Yang is a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon with fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery. He is also a specialist in peripheral nerve surgery and brachial plexus injuries. He also performs comprehensive plastic reconstructive surgeries following trauma and cancer from head to toe. He has special interests in limb salvage, amputee care and advanced bioprosthetics.

Dr. Yang received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, and his residency in plastic surgery through the integrated plastic surgery residency program at the Medical College of Wisconsin affiliated hospitals. He then continued to Oregon Health and Science University where he successfully completed his fellowship in the combined plastic and orthopaedic hand surgery fellowship. The scope of training consisted of comprehensive upper extremity care including, fracture fixations, soft tissue repair, peripheral nerve surgery including brachia! plexus care and targeted muscle reinnervation, replantation/revascularization, and free tissue reconstruction.

Dr. Yang has been involved with many research projects with publications in the field of hand surgery and plastic surgery, having also presented at several regional and national conferences
