Dr Juyu Tang has received his doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from the XiangYa Hospital of Central South University. His doctoral thesis was to study the perforator flap for complex soft tissue defect reconstruction. After graduation, he stayed at XiangYa Hospital as a professor in microsurgery surgery. In 2012, he visited University of Pennsylvania as a postdoctoral researcher for one year. Next, he returned to XiangYa Hospital as the Director of Department of Hand & Microsurgery.

Prof. Juyu Tang was good at the aspect of perforators flap transplantation, limb fosterage replantation, and treatment of bone defects and osteonecrosis and bone nonunion. He serves as reviewers of several journals in China. He is the first to put forward the novel concept of “minimal invasion and aesthetics” of flap surgery and “special forms of perforator flap”. Between 2012 and 2015, He led and completed Expert Consensus for the definition and terminology of special forms of perforator flap, The clinical application course of special forms of perforator flap and Experts consensus for clinical application principle of perforator flap as the chief expert in China.

Since 2014, he held a Master Class of perforator flap in order to advanced micro-reconstruction technique in China. He made an outstanding contribution for popularization and application of perforator flap in China. He was the experts in china as a Vice President of the Chinese Microsurgery Society, Vice President of the Microsurgery Repair Committee of Chinese Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, Vice Chairman of China Division of Asian Pacific Federation of Societies for Reconstructive Microsurgery and President of Microsurgery Professional Committee of Hunan Medical Society. He is now supervising several doctoral students and master students.
