Dr. Bouw is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences and Experiential Education Area Coordinator for California Northstate University College of Pharmacy (CNUCOP). Originally from Grand Rapids, MI, Dr. Bouw graduated from Calvin College in his city of birth and received his B.S. in Biochemistry in 2003. Before going back for his Pharm.D. in 2005 he worked as an analytical chemist for a small research corporation in West Lafayette, IN.
Dr. Bouw's passion lies in the classroom and indirect patient care. His background in serving underprivileged and underserved populations during residency training prepared him well for his service as the ambulatory care pharmacist at the Sacramento County Primary Care Clinic. He enjoys his responsibilities as a professor, preceptor, and mentor for pharmacy students and his teaching philosophy fits well with the team-based learning approach of CNUCOP. His primary areas of interest are hypertension, hyperlipidemia, endocrine and thyroid disorders, and HIV.
