T. Justin Rettenmaier aspires to creatively combine synthetic chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, and genetics to both discover and correct the molecular defects underlying disease. We have developed a novel ligand discovery technology that enables the rapid discovery of tool compounds for difficult-to-express protein targets, with an emphasis on allosteric modulation. We are combining tool compounds and functional genomics to investigate disease mechanisms and test therapeutic hypotheses for the treatment of inflammatory diseases.
