Jun Qi PhD

Dr. Qi is a Senior Research Scientist in the Medical Oncology Department at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and is the lead chemist in Dr. James Bradner’s laboratory. Dr. Qi received his BS in Chemistry from Fudan University in China, and MS degree from Wayne State University. He then obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of Michigan in 2006, and completed his postdoctoral training at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2009 with Professor Mohammad Movassaghi. Both his Ph.D. and postdoctoral study have been focused on the total synthesis of natural compounds and the novel synthetic methodology development. Since his joining in Dr. Bradner’s lab at in 2009, Dr. Qi’s study has been focusing on design and synthesis the small molecule inhibitors targeting the gene regulation pathway for cancer therapy. His recent discover of small molecule inhibitor for bromodomain JQ1 has been utilized in understanding the fundamental roles of epigenetic reader, and has been studied by more than hundred research groups worldwide. Dr. Qi has made contribution to Bradner group’s recent publication in Nature and Cell.
