Julius Fischer MD

Dr. Julius Clemens Fischer, MD, is a Physician Scientist at Klinikum Rechts der Isar of the Technical University of Munich. In his junior research group, they focus on ideas to (i) stimulate tissue regeneration and (ii) improve tumor response rates after radiation therapy or its combination with different types of immunotherapies. Currently, they are focusing on microbiota-host interactions. Using a series of mouse models (e.g., transgenic mice, bone marrow chimeras, treatment with antibiotics, modification of nutrition, supplementation of specific metabolites, recolonization with specific bacteria), they study nutrition-microbiota-host interactions that can be manipulated to try to modulate outcomes after radiation therapy.
