Dr. Julie Mai is an osteopathic physician who continually strives to improve the self-healing ability of each child and adult towards their path of optimal health. She practices comprehensive traditional osteopathy and osteopathy in the cranial field. She is also certified in Homeopathy and Bach Flower Essences and may utilize these as adjunct therapy. Having worked closely with Dr. Viola Frymann for several years, she has experience in treating children with various developmental problems, learning disabilities, as well as the treatment of common problems in newborn babies and other suboptimal health issues of adults and pregnant moms-to-be.
Doctor Mai graduated from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine (TUCOM) after earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of California at San Diego (UCSD). After completing her traditional internship, she worked closely with Dr. Viola Frymann and her pediatric patients at the Osteopathic Center for Children & Families for several years.
She also mentored under other well-known and experienced osteopaths such as Philippe Druelle, D.O. from Canada, Eric Dolgin, D.O. from Santa Monica, and Doctor Hugh Ettlinger, Director of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Residency at St. Barnabus Hospital, NY. She has earned awards and scholarships for her dedication to osteopathy. Among those early distinctions, she was a medalist of the A. Hollis Wolf Case Presentation and was awarded the Vicki E. Dyson Scholarship for her work with Osteopathic Physicians. Dr. Mai also achieved a Certification of Proficiency from the Osteopathic Cranial Academy and a Diploma in Clinical Homeopathy from the CEDH.
She is a member of the American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO), the Cranial Academy, and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). She is currently on the Board of Directors for the Osteopathic Center for Children. She is part of the teaching faculty for Osteopathy’s Promise to Children at the Osteopathic Center San Diego and for The Osteopathic Cranial Academy. She serves as a clinical adjunct faculty at Touro University, College of Osteopathic Medicine (TUCOM).
