The majority of Julie's nursing career has been in Specialist Palliative Care. She worked in this field for over 20 years, mainly in the role of a community Macmillan nurse in East London. She joined the Care Home Project Team at St Christopher’s Hospice in 2008 as a research nurse and a GSFCH facilitator.
Since coming into post she has undertaken a number of audit and research studies with care home staff which have developed her, and others, understanding of the care home context. These included a Cluster Randomised Controlled Trial and a mixed methods study (PhD) to best understand how to implement an end of life care programme in practice.
