Julie Bienertova-Vasku, MD., PhD currently leads the research programme Molecular Pathophysiology at the Research Centre for the Toxic Compounds in the Environment (RECETOX) at the Faculty of Sciences, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. In 2009, she earned her PhD in Pathophysiology here and in 2013, she became an Associate Professor at the Department of Pathophysiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. Her area of expertise is mainly the role of adipokines in the molecular pathophysiology of obesity and its associated comorbidities and stress-induced changes of adipose tissue and related epigenetic changes, also in the context of transgenerational inheritance. Her current programme is mainly focused on the identification of associations between environmental exposure and alterations in adipose tissue in humans. Julie Bienertova-Vasku has an additional interest in the development of novel methodologies for the measurement of stress.
