Julia M. Sheffield PhD

Dr. Julia Sheffield is an Assistant Professor within the Vanderbilt Psychotic Disorders Program, Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Sheffield's research utilizes fMRI, cognitive, and clinical symptom data to determine the functional and neurobiological correlates of cognitive impairment and psychotic experiences in patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, with a particular interest in the role of the insula in aberrant salience processing. Clinically, Dr. Sheffield utilizes CBTp and DBT techniques to conduct inpatient and outpatient therapy for individuals managing a primary psychotic disorder.
