Dr. Julia Yue Cui is a Professor in toxicology at the UW Department of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences (DEOHS). She is the director of the Environmental Health and Microbiome Research Center, part of DEOHS. Dr. Cui is also a member of the UW Interdisciplinary Center for Exposures, Diseases, Genomics and Environment (EDGE) and co-director of the EDGE Center's Genomics, Functional Genomics, Proteomics, and Metabolomics Facility Core. She previously held the Sheldon D. Murphy Endowed Chair in Toxicology and Environmental Health.

Dr. Cui is trained as a toxicologist, specializing in using toxicogenomic and toxico-epigenomic approaches to determine the effects of environmental chemical exposure and reprogramming the gut microbiome on the transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of genes involved in drug metabolism and obesity during development. She received her BS degree from Chukechen Honors College, Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China, and her PhD degree with honors from the University of Kansas Medical Center.
