Julia Carolin Stingl (formerly Kirchheiner) studied medicine at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt. In the period 1999-2004, she completed her specialist training in Clinical Pharmacology at the Charité in Berlin and in 2004 qualified as a pharmacogenetic optimization of drug therapy. In 2006, she accepted a professorship in Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Ulm. In 2012 she became Professor of Translational Pharmacology at the University of Bonn (Thuringian Model) and at the same time Head of the new Research Department at the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices. Since October 2014, Ms. Stingl has been Vice President of the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices in Bonn. For more than 15 years, she has been involved in research on pharmacogenetics and drug variability, drug safety and patient-adjusted drug dosing. It has developed pharmacogenetically based dosing adjustments for antidepressants and antipsychotics that are used in the clinical application of pharmacogenetic diagnostics and are now used in international guidelines.

Julia Stingl is associate member of the Drug Commission of the German Medical Association, member of the Pharmacogenomics Working Party of the EMA and member of the Faculty of 1000. It has developed pharmacogenetically based dosing adjustments for antidepressants and antipsychotics that are used in the clinical application of pharmacogenetic diagnostics and are now used in international guidelines.
