Julia M. Porth Bittner is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. She is an epidemiologist seeking to improve the health and well-being of women and children through research. Using epidemiologic and causal inference methodologies she quantitatively explores factors influencing maternal and child healthcare and healthcare disparities. Her dissertation work examined the influence of maternal migration on the utilization of family health services in Kenya, with a focus on the use of delivery care and childhood vaccination.

Julia has experience designing analyses using observational data, including analysis of nationally representative survey data, and has a strong interest in engaging in intervention studies that aim to improve health outcomes. Through international research internships, she has gained experience working with collaborators with diverse perspectives and objectives. Her long-term goal is to conduct policy-relevant research that positively influences the health and well-being of mothers and children in the US and abroad.
