Juleen Rodakowski, OTD, MS, OTR/L, Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Occupational Therapy in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Dr. Rodakowski investigates effective interventions to support family-centered care to allow elderly adults to age in place. Dr. Rodakowski’s research examines individual and system-wide implications of including caregivers in healthcare settings. As part of Aim 1 of The Caregiver Project, she studied the implications of including caregivers in the discharge process on hospital stays and readmissions. This resulted in a groundbreaking publication in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society (Rodakowski J, JAGS, 2017). Dr. Rodakowski expanded on this work as she led Aim 3 of The Caregiver Project, which evaluated the implementation of the CARE Act at the system level in local UPMC hospitals.
