Dr. Joy is Professor in Mental Health Nursing. She is research active in the area of mental health and wellbeing and leads the Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing within the School of Health. She has a background in forensic and acute inpatient mental health care. Joy has conducted extensive research into staff and patients perspectives on aspects of risk and safety with a specific focus upon aggression, coercive practices and medication management. Her work and publications reflect her interest in applied social justice.
