Joy Chakraborty BSc

Joy Chakraborty is currently holding the position of Chief Operating Officer after holding the position of Senior Director – Operations of Hinduja Hospital. He joined as Deputy Director – Administration in Hinduja Hospital in March 2007. Subsequently, he has served as Director – Administration. He is overall responsible for operations and implementation of business strategies of the hospital. He works very closely in the quality improvement processes and projects for the hospital. He also manages the logistics and marketing functions of the hospital.

He is passionate about nurturing new ideas and thoughts for experiments in the process of healthcare delivery. His current responsibility is to ensure optimal level capacity utilization of hospital resources. He is also keen on developing knowledge management t in healthcare along with creating a trained human resource pool for the sector especially for the segment of allied health professionals. Prior to joining Hinduja Hospital, he has had 9 years of experience in working for Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre (SRMC), Chennai associated with Sri Ramachandra Medical College (Deemed University). He started his career in SRMC as Management Trainee and grown as an Administrator over a period of seven years. As an administrator, he managed the entire operations and administration function of the hospital as a leader and member of a large team.

Mr. Joy was actively involved in developing and teaching programs related to the healthcare management field in SRMC. He was instrumental in starting the MBA Program in Hospital and Health Systems Management at Sri Ramachandra University. He worked there as Honorary Asst Professor. He was a visiting faculty for the College of Nursing for B.Sc and M.Sc program; College of Allied Health Sciences and College of Physiotherapy in the same University. Joy was also a visiting faculty in Loyola Institution of Business Administration (LIBA), Apollo Institute of Hospital Administration, Chennai for Healthcare Management Courses on regular basis. He also visits IIHMR to deliver guest lectures. He was a visiting faculty for the BE- Biomedical Engineering Program, RGCE, Anna University, and Member, Advisory Council, DAEC, Madras university. WHO nominated international students have undergone Hospital Management internship under him. Currently, he is a faculty and a Member of the Academic Board at Wellingker Institute, Mumbai. Before starting his career, he completed his Post Graduation in Healthcare Management and subsequently PG diploma in Marketing & Sales Management after obtaining a basic degree in Human Physiology from Kolkata University.

Subsequently, he has attended an advanced management program in Finance (Finance for Business Leaders) from IIM, Ahmedabad. He has undergone advanced Executive Education from Harvard Business School in Managing Healthcare Delivery. Joy is currently a Member of the National Healthcare Committee. of CII; He is also a member of the accreditation committee of NABH and Health Sector Skill Council (HSSC). He is a member of prestigious bodies like the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and the Academy of Hospital Administrators. He has been invited to the board of studies and many other positions in various academic institutions across the country.
