Joshua Robert Lakin BA, MD

oshua Lakin, MD, is a member of the Serious Illness Care Program at Ariadne Labs. In this role, Josh supports the expansion of the Serious Illness Communication Program. Josh is also an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an attending physician on the Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care team at the Dana – Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Josh completed his medical training at the University of California, San Francisco and was recognized for leading a number of quality improvement projects, including a successful incentive program to increase standardized and effective documentation of advance care planning discussions. In the past, he has also worked in the field of business as a consultant for the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, Earth Institute of Columbia University, Butterfield Bank of Bermuda, McKinsey & Co., and as a financial analyst for Tektronix, Inc.

Josh earned his B.A. from Willamette University, his Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical accreditation from Columbia University, and his M.D. from Brown Medical School. He completed his fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco.
