Dr. Schier is a senior medical officer and medical toxicologist with CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC). At NCIPC, he informs and assists with CDC's activities in halting the opioid epidemic and preparing to respond to emerging public health threats related to suspected and known drugs of abuse. Prior to joining NCIPC, he spent 16+ years at NCEH working on national surveillance activities for chemical and radiological public health threats as well as domestic and international outbreaks of suspected and known toxicological etiology. He is the CDC/ATSDR Site Director for the Emory/CDC Medical Toxicology Fellowship and an attending Medical Toxicologist at Grady Health Systems.
