Joseph D. Zak, Ph.D. is currently an Assistant Professor at The University of Illinois Chicago. He has a received Doctor of Philosophy from The University of Colorado. His research interests are Neuroscience, Systems Neuroscience, Chemosensory Receptors, and Olfaction.
Joseph D. Zak is a neuroscientist interested in the neural circuitry that allows animals to interact with their environment through sensory experience. Joseph D. Zak completed Joseph D. Zak's Ph.D. in neuroscience at the University of Colorado Medical School, and Joseph D. Zak is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Molecular & Cellular Biology at Harvard University. The current focus of Joseph D. Zak's research is (1) understanding how mixtures of sensory stimuli interact with receptor neurons in the olfactory system and (2) determining how projections from the olfactory cortex to the olfactory bulb are modified through learning. Throughout my career, research and professional development have been supported by individual fellowships from the National Institutes of Health. Outside of the lab, Joseph D. Zak teaches a course on neural plasticity at Harvard College.
