Joseph L. Nates, MD, Anesthesiologist, Critical Care Physician, and Medical Director currently working at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has been named a 2017 Top Doctor in Houston, Texas. Dr. Joseph L. Nates is a highly experienced anesthesiologist, who has been in practice for over 35 years. His career in medicine began in 1981 when he graduated from the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia. He later completed residencies at the Rambam Medical Center-Technion School of Medicine and at Hadassah Hebrew University Hospital in Jerusalem, prior to fellowships at the Alfred Hospital and Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia. Dr. Nates then went on to complete a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Dr. Nates is a renowned expert in both Anesthesiology and Critical Care. He has received multiple awards, among them the Distinguished Service Award from the Society of Critical Care Medicine. He is the author of more than 200 medical papers and book chapters. Dr. Nates recently published the first Oncologic Critical Care textbook for Spanish-speaking countries.
