Dr. Joseph James Scarano, a board-certified pediatrician, joined Scarano and Taylor Pediatrics in 1989 after completing his pediatric residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He received his undergraduate degree from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia and completed medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark.

Dr. Scarano served as chief of pediatrics at Blak Scarano served as chief of pediatrics at Blake Hospital, Manatee Memorial Hospital, and Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. He has been chairman of the Department of Medicine, Vice Chief of Staff, Chief of Staff, and member of the Board of Governors at Manatee Memorial Hospital. Dr. Scarano is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a faculty member of the Florida State University College of Medicine. He lectures at local and regional medical centers and conferences.

Dr. Scarano has a special interest in child development, adolescent medicine, nutrition, and fitness. He actively participates in pediatric medical research. Dr. Scarano is a member of the Student Health Advisory Committee for the Manatee County School District.
