Joseph Cuschieri MD, FACS

Joseph Cuschieri, M.D., F.A.C.S., is director of Surgical Critical Care at Harborview Medical Center and associate program director of the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at UW Medical Center. He is a UW professor of Surgery and adjunct professor of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.

Dr. Cuschieri specializes in general surgery, emergency surgery and critical care. He believes in providing the highest standard in medical and surgical care to patients and families suffering traumatic or acute surgical diseases.

Dr. Cuschieri has clinical interests in surgical infections and inflammatory cell function following trauma and during sepsis. He is involved in NIH-sponsored research investigating alterations in host immunity following injury and during ischemia. Dr. Cuschieri is also interested in teaching assessment and management of acute surgical emergencies with compassion.
