Joseph Canterino (he/him) received his bachelor's degree from Colgate University and MD from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency and Chief residency at Yale and stayed at Yale for his fellowship in Infectious Diseases. During his fellowship, he concentrated on chronic viral infections, specifically HIV and Hepatitis C. Following fellowship he has remained at Yale on the faculty and served as Co-director of the Hepatitis C-Primary Care Clinic from 2015-2022, teaching house staff to treat HCV in a primary care setting.
Canterino currently serves as the General ID Ambulatory Medical Director. He recently completed a fellowship and masters in Medical Informatics and combines this interest and his ID training to improve the quality of care for patients with infections and demonstrate the value of Infectious Diseases providers through electronic medical record builds and data analytics.
