Josep Redon (Valencia, 1950) graduated in 1974 in Medicine at the University of Valencia and specialized in internal medicine at the Jiménez Díaz Foundation in Madrid and at the Hospital Universitario La Fe of Valencia. After the head of Internal Medicine at the Hospital de Sagunto, moved to the United States in 1991 to focus on their research on hypertension. First at Northwestern University in Chicago and later at the Loyola University of Illinois.
He is Member since its founding of the European Society of Hypertension, Redón belongs to its board of directors since 2005 and he has been its president until last June. Between 2000 and 2004 chaired the Spanish Society of Hypertension. Currently, it's evaluator of the National Agency for Evaluation and Prospective ANECA, belonging to the Ministry of Universities, Research and Development, Ministry of Education and Culture and member of the Coordinating Committee for the Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Plan, of the Valencian Department of Health and Consumer Affairs of the Valencian Government.
As part of his research he has published over 300 articles in internationally recognized journals and the author of more than ten books. He is a member of the editorial board of several international journals in the field of hypertension, such as Hypertension, Journal of Hypertension or Blood Pressure Monitoring.
