He graduated in Dentistry from the University of São Paulo (1989), Master of Cell Biology and Structural the State University of Campinas (1994) and a PhD in Chemistry from the State University of Campinas (1998). Did post-doc stage in Cellular and Molecular Biology in Insitituto USP Chemistry (1999-2000). In INMETRO (National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology), is Senior Researcher in Metrology and Quality and coordinates the Bioengineering Area Applied Metrology Directorate Life Sciences. In the Faculty of Dentistry of the Universidade Federal Fluminense is Adjunct Professor. Has experience in the area of Biomaterials and Bone Biology with emphasis in Bioengineering, developing studies on the toxicity of biomaterials, cell therapy, induction factors and modulation of tissue repair, development of tissue equivalent, alternative methods to animal use and research trials and new biomarkers of toxicity of nano particles and nanostructured materials. Currently coordinates the Nanotox Network and the CNPQ design / MCTI for implementation of the National Network of Alternative Methods. He is a member of the National Council of Biotechnology (CNB), Advisory Council Nanotechnology / MCTI (CCNano) and coordinator of the National Council of Animal Experimentation Control (CONCEA) of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI).
